Green Energy
Even though Africa is one of the sunniest continents, it’s also considered one of the least electrified and energy deprived on the planet.
Why aren’t African Nations taking advantage of this free and clean energy source to light up remote and isolated homes that don’t necessarily need a link to the national power grids?
Pushing to electrify rural areas in Africa poses unique challenges for local governments. Remote and scattered, rural homes, unlike homes in urban areas, are costly and often impractical to connect to grids. The Power grids in most African Nations are overwhelmed and do not have the bandwidth to meet the capacity and demand. Even people living in big capital cities do experience power outages periodically especially over Summer. The lack of dependable energy source affects the lives of numerous people especially “youth” who need to study and do their homework when the sun goes down. Whereby, this means parents will spend less time with their children before bedtime.
